Online exchange program held for Nanyang Polytechnic students

Online exchange program held for Nanyang Polytechnic students

An online exchange program was held on March 9-10 for students from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), Singapore. Each year NYP students visit Japan for the exchange program, but due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions the program was held online for this year.

In the 2-day program, Social Work students received lectures from our faculties on the social welfare system in Japan, and social workers, care workers and psychiatric social workers in Japan. The program also included the introduction of 2 local social welfare facilities, KuRuMiX and Kiji no Sato.
The NYP students learned about the Japanese social welfare system through lectures and active discussions. The students also showed strong interest in each social welfare facility, and tried to understand better the features of each facility through asking questions.

Nursing students had a joint exchange program with Samuel Merritt University, USA. Please see the post by School of Nursing for details.

There was a social event at the end of the 2-day program, hosted by our students. Global Lab, the international activity club, introduced Japanese culture and our university by an interactive quiz game, which brought excitement among NYP students. Sado club performed a traditional tea ceremony which fascinated NYP students and motivated them to come to Japan to experience in person.

We hope the NYP students who joined the program this time will be able to come to Japan one day for a real experience.
