本日、言語聴覚学科1年生にリハビリテーション英語の講義がありました。

今回は、Bernard Heberleさんにお手伝いを頂きました。この講義では、単にリハビリテーションに関係する高度な英単語を学習するだけでなく、模擬患者さん(英語話者)に英語で面接をします。そして、面接結果から言語病理学的診断を求めています。

授業ではアクティブラーニングの手法を取り入れて、学生さんが自身の責任において主体的に学ぶことが求められています。

これらの活動から、コミュニケーションスキルの向上だけでなく、クリティカルシンキングスキル(思考手段の1つ)や実際の人を通じた相互関係性の成長を目指しています。

Today, the 1st year ST students in the Rehabilitation English class worked with Mr. Bernard Heberle to communicate in English. 

Rather than just study a list of advanced medical vocabulary words, the ST Rehabilitation class focused on developing interview questions with a Simulated Patient.

The students had to determine a diagnosis from their group work and interviews. 

This class uses participatory Active Learning techniques to put the learning responsibility on the students. 

It offers not just communication skills development, but Critical Thinking Skills and reflective interaction with a real person.
